My name is Jackie, and I am a qualified counsellor working with children, young people and adults. Since 2018 I have been providing a counselling service to schools in the Havant area.
I have 16 years’ experience of working in primary education, 6 as a School Counsellor where I have worked alongside SENCo’s, social workers and other children’s services staff. I have previous experience as a Bereavement Counsellor for the Bereavement Counselling Charity, where I visited clients in their homes and as a Counsellor for Off the Record in Havant.
I believe in the philosophy that we are all naturally creative and unique, we all have value, deserve respect and have an instinctive tendency to grow, change and achieve our full potential.
Sometimes life can get in the way of this and sometimes we need a little help to see the wood for the trees. Sometimes it is hard to talk to those we are closest to for fear of upsetting them and easier to talk to someone outside of the situation. This does not mean that anyone has failed.
My approach to therapy is Humanistic, mainly person-centred. By offering both talking and creative therapies clients have the opportunity to discover what works best for them.

Counselling can
help with:
Anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, relationship difficulties and family issues, attachment, trauma from abuse, bereavement, anger, social anxiety, stress, trauma and more.

Counselling can
help by:
Providing a safe space and environment to talk about difficult issues, in confidence. Being listened to without judgement, with respect and empathy, creates a secure and trusting working relationship.

Counselling
aims to:
Have a positive impact on thoughts, feelings, and behaviours; find better ways of communicating; feel ok about challenges; change behaviours which have negative consequences; and to feel better about life.

What happens?
You will be given regular weekly sessions of 50 minutes. Counselling can be either short-term or long-term. Counselling works best when sessions are attended regularly. Sessions are confidential and client-led, which means you decide what you
talk about.

Creative Counselling
I work creatively with children and young people, as it can sometimes be easier to express thoughts and feelings this way. I use a range of play-based or creative activities including drawing, painting, role-play, clay, sand tray, and puppets.

Experience
I provide a counselling service to the schools in the local area. I have over 16 years of experience working in education. Previously I have been a voluntary counsellor (adults) for the Bereavement Counselling Charity, and a young person’s counsellor at Off the Record in Havant.
